Bulletstorm Full Clip review

People only really seemed to buy Bulletstorm on 360, to gain access to Gears 3's beta. We were pleasantly surprised that this grusome skill shot game, turned out to become a cult classic amongst EPIC's fans.

Recently Gearbox have taken the reigns of the franchise in partnership with the developers of the original People Can Fly. So, how does the two add up? Well, Xbox One certainly makes the place look more like a holiday resort, with more enphasis on colour than the original and a better streamlined performance in combat. The 360 version was prone to getting stick during big fights, here and there, but the updated version for Xbox One, seems to gloss over these combat errors and somewhat boosts the enjoyment.

Even better is the inclusion of new maps in Echo mode. With an added bolt on that comes with a twist.
The Echos run the same as they did back on 360. Having to earn stars to unlock more maps, by performing the most amount of new skill shots and outlandish murders possible. The twist comes in it's new mode. Within this bolton is the same core mechanics, except the longer you survive and the more crazy you get with your kills, the more new rules you unlock. These rules can become so evil at times, that you may want to throw your controller at the wall, but none the less, they are engagin and fun.

Now, what kept people coming back to the original in the first place, Anarchy mode. The four player multiplayer mode constantly challenges you to work as a team, handing out bigger rewards for team kills, than solo efforts. The main challenge on this rerelease, however, is its ability to actually stay connected. This is infuriating as it has no preference, kicking players out with great connections or poor ones.

Getting towards the end of a map, hittig every special kill available perfectly, only to get booted in the last wave, grows tiring after while. The core mechanics remain the same though, meaning when the servers work, it's just as fun as you remember it. After a certain amount of time the game detects a challenge team kill. This can be anything from 'Tug-of-war" (two players using their leash at once) to a kill designed to use a select weapon or piece of the environment. Also, the bigger the way you take down the mini-bosses that spawn, the bigger the reward.

Not a bad attempt overall, not perfect, but no remaster is truly perfect. With multiplayer service issues and leaderboard issues in the echos, it could easily become a lot better, as these things are easily patchable.
